The Great Train Race is a fun, family-friendly event with distances ranging from 400m through to 7km—there’s truly something for everyone.
Participants go head-to-head against the iconic Don River Railway steam train, creating a unique and exciting race experience you won’t find anywhere else.
Starting at the historic Don River Railway, the course winds along the scenic Devonport walking track beside the Don River, all the way to Coles Beach and back.
Along the route, runners and walkers are treated to plenty of entertainment, all while hearing (and feeling!) the steam train chasing them through the beautiful Don Reserve.
Whether you’re racing, jogging, or walking, it’s an unforgettable event for all ages—a must-do on the Tasmanian events calendar.
